Venue Operations Center API Design

Venue Managers for clubs such as Drumheads were the main target audience for the VOC. The VOC API allows managers to send push notifications to users inside their venues.

It is intended to be a central hub where managers can puppeteer events and make sure all the user flows are working smoothly.

Heatmap Island

The API is a central control system for managers to communicate with app users during instances such as emergencies, marketing, and promotions.

Managers wanted to know more about crowd movement so that they understand how to improve club experiences.

Live and recorded crowd heatmaps allow venue managers to access the current crowd state in the venue as well as past instances. The control island is designed to give managers greater control over playback data.

The Control Island shows important data points such as event timelines, footfall, and allows managers to snap back to live crowds through the “Back To Live” CTA.

What’s Next?

Customer interviews told us that the control island needs playback control.

Detecting Bottlenecks

Club events put stress on public transport in the area. Therefore managers wanted to stagger arrivals and leavings so that club-goers would have an easier time commuting.

Internal passages in the venues are also susceptible to bottlenecks, which creates its own problems.

AI insights allow managers to have predicted footfall estimates at key locations at venues.

Bar Sale Revenue Estimates

Alerts were designed to incorporate AI insights so that managers would be able to see their earned revenue against the predicted revenue as a function of time.
